Fire and water

I forgot to mention earlier that Mother's Glory medals, 1st and 2nd order, were given on 1 June (Children's Day) to mothers with -- and here comes the embarrassing part -- I can't remember how many children ... I have tried to look it up, but can only find information from Communist times. Anyway, this award is meant to stimulate population growth in Mongolia. If it has the desired effect is one of the many things I don't know.

Right before lunch yesterday one of the girls in the orphanage started screaming while pointing towards the window. We all rushed to see what was going on: a fire had broken out right next to the orphanage. Luckily the fire squad came in no time and they quickly succeeded in putting out the fire.



The other day there were problems with the roof in the orphanage and water coming in. Now there are new worries: there is a leak in the water pipes, but no one knows where, so the road in front of the orphanage is being dug up. Today three men were digging, but yesterday there had been an excavator doing the job. During the process unfortunately the electric wires had been cut off ...
